Calling Notice for a hybrid Discussion and Information Meeting,  Wednesday 13th November, 1pm: Consultative e-ballot on pay and conditions

UCU is launching a consultative e-ballot over HE pay and working conditions next week from Tuesday 12th November.

We are calling a meeting to discuss the ballot, to allow members a chance to discuss the issues, make an informed choice and contribute to the campaign strategy.

National Dispute – Discussion and Information Meeting

With national negotiators (invited)
Wednesday 13th November, 1-2pm

  • Online: Members have been sent a registration link (please register in advance)
  • In Person: Lecture Theatre G22, North West Wing, Gower Street (Map)
Why members are being balloted

The ballot concerns the union’s response to the final offer from Universities and Colleges Employers Association (UCEA). It is being administered by Civica Election Services and will run for three weeks. This consultative ballot is also part of the Reclaim HE UCU campaign.

Members will be asked

  • Whether to accept or reject the pay offer (a staged offer of £75pw now and the remainder of 2.5%+ paid from March 2025)
  • Whether to accept or reject the terms of reference for negotiations over casualisation (contract types), workload and pay gaps
  • Whether they are willing to take industrial action to improve the offer

The elected Higher Education Committee (HEC) has agreed to recommend rejection of the pay offer and acceptance of the terms of reference. More information is available here.
