As the UCL “appraisal season” is coming to an end, we are reminding members that the boycott of the “MyAppraisal” system continues as the situation remains that UCL did not and has not consulted with UCL UCU or any other campus union about MyAppraisal.
Please look out for an email headed “IMPORTANT: UCU higher education pay offer consultative ballot (2026)” which was sent out on Tuesday.

This update is to
1. remind you that the boycott of “MyAppraisal” continues, and
2. clarify that staff can choose to use “paper” (MS Word document) appraisal forms, rather than the online MyAppraisal system, and that there is no penalty attached to doing so. The sole exception to this is Grade 10 staff, whose appraisals have never used these Word documents. All other staff can continue to do so.

When the Teaching Concordat was introduced in 2020, it represented a step forward for the recognition of teaching staff and a commitment by UCL to value and treat us fairly. Over the past few years, however, we have been made aware of many breaches of the Concordat, particularly affecting fixed-term staff and/or lecturers (teaching).
Nominations for branch officer positions have now closed. As there are a number of Executive Committee places still unfilled, the outgoing committee has agreed to extend nominations for ordinary members of the Executive Committee until Monday 22nd June 2026.
