National UCU Demonstration, this Saturday 10 May
Dear UCL UCU member
Protect Education Now! UCU National Demonstration this Saturday 10 May.
UCU is holding a Post-16 education national rally this Saturday, 10th May which members are encouraged to attend.
We need to demonstrate and protest to defend jobs and education for the next generation. Across the UK 10,000 Higher Education jobs are under threat this year. We need to take the campaign to Westminster.
After the local elections, a debate has opened up about the way forward for politics in the UK. Are we to see a return to austerity and cuts? Or can we demand Labour stand up for the principle of education for all, to fund HE properly and stop the cuts?
We call on all members to join us in Central London this Saturday. Bring friends, students, family and banners.
- Assemble Bessborough Gardens SW1
London Region branches, including UCL UCU, are meeting up from 12 Noon at the North end of the Gardens.
