Reminder – Motion deadline tomorrow, for General Meeting 10 March (Congress Motions)

This is a reminder that a General Meeting of UCL UCU is taking place on Tuesday 10th March at 1pm to consider which motions this branch will submit to Congress or Sector Conference.  UCU Congress is the annual general meeting and principal democratic body of the UCU. See https://www.ucu.org.uk/Congress26.

The deadline to submit motions to be considered at the General Meeting is tomorrow, Thursday 5th March, at 12pm.  Please email motions to ucu@ucl.ac.uk.

UCL UCU is entitled to submit one motion to Congress on general matters of policy, and two motions to the Higher Education Sector Conference on HE-specific matters.  Therefore if the branch meeting votes to support more than our motion entitlement we will take a vote to rank them in order to determine which we will submit.

All members are encouraged to attend the General Meeting on Tuesday 10th March at 1pm. Members have been emailed a registration link.

Motion Word Limit

Motions for Congress or Sector Conference have a word limit of 150 words, excluding the title which can have a maximum of 10 words. Guidance on writing a motion can be found on this page, or members are welcome to contact Branch Officers for drafting assistance.

Open call for Congress delegates and briefing

UCL UCU is entitled to send 9 delegates to Congress and Sector Conference which is taking place at the Harrogate Convention Centre from Wednesday 27 May – Friday 29 May 2026.  If you are interested in attending either in-person or remotely please email ucu@ucl.ac.uk.
