Extraordinary General Meeting, Thursday 30 April, 1-2pm
This is a calling notice for our next ‘Extraordinary’ General Meeting on Thursday 30 April, 1-2pm. Members have been emailed a registration link.
The meeting is called for two purposes:
- To conduct business related to the national Congress and HE Sector Conference of the union

Congress (incorporating the HE Sector Conference) is the national democratic ‘AGM’ of UCU. See https://www.ucu.org.uk/Congress26
This meeting will consider proposals for Amendments to Motions already submitted to Congress and Sector Conference. It may also take Late Motions for the same. See Appendix.
If you wish to propose any of the below, please email ucu@ucl.ac.uk by 5pm on Friday 24 April.
- A local motion for debate
- An amendment to either a Congress or Sector Conference motion
- A late motion to Congress or Sector Conference
The meeting will also formally ratify elections of Congress delegates.

Appendix: Amendments and Late Motions to Congress
Please read The First Report of the Congress Business Committee, which sets out motions received.
Amendments
Amendments for Congress and the HE Sector Conference may be proposed by any member and must be no more than 75 words, not including instructional text (“add before”, etc). The First Report includes instructions.
Note that amendments must not substantively change the meaning of a motion – if you wish to propose a different motion, you can propose a late motion.
Late Motions
Late motions of no more than 150 words may also be accepted (see the First Report) but note the criteria: the motion must be urgent or timely and requires a decision of Congress or Sector Conference, it could not have been submitted within the prescribed time limit, and it is decided on by a quorate branch meeting.
