UCL UCU: Launch meeting of UCL Together Alliance
We are writing to encourage colleagues to attend an important open meeting to build a campaign on UCL campus to bring staff and students together against the far right.
The meeting will launch the UCL chapter of Together Alliance on campus.
- 6pm Wednesday March 4
- Sir David Davies Lecture Theatre, Roberts Building, UCL
- Access via Engineering Front Building
- Please register on EventBrite*
The Together Alliance is backed by over 500 civil society organisations including trade unions, and is building towards a major demonstration on March 28th, UN Anti-Racism Day. The 4th March event will mark UCL’s contribution to that.
Our colleagues and students are threatened by the rise of Reform. Nigel Farage has openly said a Reform government will end Indefinite Leave to Remain. Reform is even proposing a UK version of ‘ICE’. Across the UK, 1-in-4 Higher Education staff and 1-in-4 students are international. As London’s global university, UCL has an even higher proportion of non-UK staff and students.
The meeting will be a chance to hear from students and staff about their own experiences on and off campus. Everyone is welcome to speak up against racism and division.
The event is supported by UCL campus trade unions UNISON and UCU, as well as a growing number of student clubs and societies. We understand a guest speaker from Minneapolis will join online.

*The event is in-person in the Roberts Building and online. Zoom links to join online will be circulated to everyone who registers.
